Responsibilities
This critical position requires a dynamic, forward thinking, business development-oriented leader. The position will be filled based on the successful candidate’s ability to demonstrate the capacity to do the following:
- Leadership and the ability to align with and execute the strategic direction of the bank
- Ability to be a rainmaker and source new business opportunities for the bank
- Capacity for generating innovative new ideas to increase the bank’s competitiveness over the next decade
- Financial and risk management decision-making that is consistent with the bank’s revenue and profit targets and risk appetite
- Desire to be an iconic and visible community leader on behalf of the bank
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute strategies to grow the bank’s loan and deposit portfolios, identify new business opportunities (commercial, small business, consumer lending), build and maintain client relationships with customized financial solutions, and collaborate with internal teams to enhance customer experience and expand banking services. Manages a substantial loan and deposit portfolio and invests time with customers to retain and expand meaningful relationships.
- Oversee the branch’s lending activities, ensuring compliance with loan policies and risk management guidelines, analyzing financial statements, assessing creditworthiness, and structuring competitive loan solutions while partnering with underwriting and credit administration teams to ensure sound lending decisions.
- Monitor loan performance, proactively address portfolio risks, evaluate loan workout requests through customer interactions, and explore solutions to encourage continued payment. Maintain and review monthly lending reports, assess loan quality from various sources, and perform random monitoring to ensure adherence to lending guidelines.
- Oversee branch operations to ensure efficiency, achievement of goals, and compliance with regulatory standards. Manage direct reports, including hiring, job assignments, performance evaluations, staff development, and recommendations for compensation, promotion, and termination as needed.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team by promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and customer service while providing coaching, mentoring, and performance management to enhance staff productivity and potential. Shares joint responsibility with the executive team for the success of bank-wide projects, initiatives, and financial performance.
- Represent the bank in the community by actively participating in civic organizations, networking events, and charitable activities while building strong relationships with local businesses, government agencies, and community leaders.
- Direct the development and implementation of an annual budget for the various lending departments of the company assuring that information submitted accurately reflects projected revenue and expenses and is documented in a manner that supports a meaningful monthly variance review and analysis.
- Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
Education,
Experience, Skills
- A minimum of 5 to 10 years of relevant experience, including roles in business development and staff supervision
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field preferred
